We’re proud to announce that Derwent Students has been shortlisted for three prestigious ASRA Awards, recognising the outstanding work of our teams in student accommodation.
ASRA (The Association for Student Residential Accommodation) celebrates excellence in student housing, and being finalists in highly competitive categories is a testament to the passion, dedication, and hard work of our teams.
Creating the Best Student Home – Hyndland House
Hyndland House is a thriving community where students feel safe, supported, and valued. Led by Scheme Manager Erwin Orduz, the team goes the extra mile to foster inclusivity, wellbeing, and sustainability. Initiatives such as cultural celebrations, Pride events, Knock Up Depression sessions, and a partnership with Tesco to redistribute surplus food make Hyndland House one of Glasgow’s most sought-after student residences.
Accommodation Hero of the Year – Chris Moden, Brunswick House
Chris Moden is more than a Maintenance Assistant – he’s an integral part of the student community at Brunswick House. His commitment to sustainability and student wellbeing is evident through initiatives like creating a community garden, designing a local area guide, and adding personal touches to the accommodation. His work enhances both the physical space and the overall student experience.
Res Life Hero of the Year – Erwin Orduz, Hyndland House
Erwin’s leadership has transformed Hyndland House into a vibrant and inclusive community. Through student engagement events, mental health initiatives, and proactive support, he ensures every resident feels welcome. His passion for student experience makes him a true Res Life Hero.
We’re incredibly proud of our teams and the difference they make every day. The winners will be announced at the ASRA Conference Awards Dinner on 8th April – good luck to all the finalists!
